General Information
Lidocaine Base is a free base local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic drug used to prevent and treat pain during surgical or diagnostic procedures. It is also used for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Lidocaine can be administered orally, in topical applications or as a solution for injection.
Lidocaine Base used further in formulations which are used mainly in topical application to relieve itching, burning and pain of inflamed skin. It inhibit ion fluxes across membranes, particularly sodium transport across the cell membrane decreases increasing depolarization phase action potential blocking nerve action potential.
A Wide Range of Applications
INJECTION
Lidocaine Injection belongs to two groups of medicines known as local anesthetics and antiarrhythmic drugs. Local anesthetics stop pain and feeling in the area around where it is injected and antiarrhythmic drugs work by restoring irregular and rapid heartbeats to normal.
PATCH
Lidocaine skin patch is used to relieve nerve pain caused by herpes zoster or shingles (postherpetic neuralgia) and also used to provide temporary relief of minor pain from many general causes.
LIQUID
Lidocaine viscous topical solution is used to treat sore mouth or throat and also reduce gagging during the taking of X-ray pictures and dental impressions.
OINTMENT
Lidocaine ointment is used on different parts of the body to cause numbness or loss of feeling for patients having certain medical procedures. It is also used to relieve pain and itching caused by conditions such as sunburn or other minor burns, insect bites or stings, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, minor cuts, or scratches.
GEL / JELLY
Lidocaine jelly is used to treat painful urethritis (inflammation of the urethra). It is also used to prevent and control pain in procedures involving the male and female urethra. Xylocaine® jelly is also used to lubricate the nose, mouth, and throat for intubation.
CREAM
Lidocaine cream is used for the treatment of Numb Tissue In A Specific Area, Ventricular Tachycardia, Cough and other conditions.
SPRAY
Lidocaine spray is used to numb the lining of the mouth, throat, or nose before certain medical/dental procedures. It also helps prevent the urge to close the throat (gag reflex), which might make the procedure more difficult. Lidocaine belongs to a class of drugs known as local anaesthetics.
